When Beau was about 18 months old, I noticed his left thumb wouldn't extend completely. Working in the medical field, specifically in orthopedics, I knew right away it was a "trigger thumb". We waited until his 2 yr checkup to mention it to the dr, but he said if it didn't go away by the time Beau was 3, it probably would require surgery. So a couple months ago we took Beau to a hand surgeon that I work with.  Sure enough surgery was going to be the only way to fix it. We were hesitant to schedule surgery based on the fact that it didn't even phase Beau. His thumb never bothered him or hurt, but eventually the dr said the joint could fuse and wouldn't allow full function. So today we had to be at the hospital at 6 am! We were nervous about how he would do without being able to eat breakfast first thing when he got up, but he did great! He was such a champ! Fortunately, it was at the place where I work, so I was able to put in my request for the staff:) My best friend was the nurse and  her son and beau are best buds too, so Beau wasn't scared to go with her. He didn't even cry when they took him away, which made it way easier on mommy and daddy! The operation did require him to go completely asleep, but they didn't have to put in an IV since it was a super quick and simple procedure. He woke up in recovery nice and calm and thanked everyone for helping fix his finger. He was soooo sweet! We were home about 2 1/2 hrs later from when we left, so that wasnt bad at all. It didnt take long for him to eat, perk up and start jumping around and acting completely normal. You would never know he had anything done. just a simple little dressing now and not even complaining of it hurting! Thank you Lord for watching over Beau and helping everything go smoothly!
